Last week, Oemah Etnik team took a 3 hours train ride to Cirebon to visit our batik maker. We visit Ibu In’s small workshop in Kampung Batik Trusmi, Plered area. Ibu In has 2 women working with hand-written batik, 1 man working on stamped batik, and 1 man working on the coloring process. It is a small team, but they can produce more than 40 batik pieces every week.

Obsessing over their varied stamp collection!

Chakra batik in the making

Traditional coloring process — Because all the coloring process is done by hand, and each fabric is dyed one at a time, the final color result may slightly appear different from one another. But that makes batik unique and personal.
